Open the image below (4000×2250 pixels), then zoom in to find the small, bright, bluish-white object. Congratulations: you’ve just spotted NASA’s Perseverance rover from Mars orbit! If you look carefully, you can even pick out the rover’s tracks!
This false-color view is a portion of HiRISE image ESP_071077_1985, taken by the HiRISE instrument onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft on September 24, 2021, from an altitude of 279 km (173 miles). North is to the upper right. At that time, the Perseverance rover was about 700 meters (2,300 feet) from its original landing site.
