The Expanse: there was an easter egg in the final episode

In the final episode of the Science-Fiction series “The Expanse”, there was an easter egg for science-fiction lovers. During the Second Battle of Medina station (previously the LDSS Nauvoo, later known as OPAS Behemoth), there was a screen on the deck of Rocinante showing the names of attacking soldiers. These names were taken from various science-fiction movies/TV shows.

In the final episode of the Science-Fiction series The Expanse, there was an easter egg for science-fiction lovers. Here is the complete list of the names in “The Expanse” Easter egg::

  • Draper B: Bobbie Draper, The Expanse. Roberta “Bobbie” W. Draper, also called Gunny, was a member and Gunnery Sergeant of the Force Recon group (Special Forces) of the Martian Marine Corps (MMC). She was stationed on the MCRN Scirocco and Xuesen throughout her career. For the better part of her life, she was a fiercely nationalistic Martian dedicated to the Martian dream of terraforming Mars. Later, she defected to the United Nations in New York City and served as both Martian liaison and later, bodyguard to UN Deputy Undersecretary Chrisjen Avasarala.
  • Burton A: Amos Burton, The Expanse. A skilled ship mechanic and also a combatant originating from Earth. He works aboard the Rocinante and is one of the four crew members. He was also dubbed “the most complex character in science fiction”.
  • Ackbar G: Admiral Giar Ackbar, Star Wars. Gial Ackbar was a veteran male Mon Calamari soldier and strong revolutionary leader during the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, the Cold War, and the war between the Resistance and the First Order. Throughout his sixty years of service, Ackbar was regarded as a brilliant tactician.
  • Idaho D: Duncan Idaho, Dune. He is a fictional character in the Dune universe created by the American science-fiction author Frank Herbert (October 8, 1920 – February 11, 1986). Introduced in the first novel of the series, 1965’s Dune, he became a breakout character and was revived in 1969’s Dune Messiah. He is the only character to feature in all six of Herbert’s original Dune novels.
  • Quaid D: Douglas Quaid, Total Recall. Douglas Quaid is the main protagonist of the 1990 Science Fiction/Action Adventure movie, Total Recall. He was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger (in the 2012 remake of the film, he was portrayed by Colin Farrell).
  • Rogan A: Alex Rogan, The Last Starfighter. Alex Rogan is the main protagonist of the 1984 American space opera film The Last Starfighter. He is a teenager recruited by an alien defense force to fight in an interstellar war.
  • Bowman D: David Bowman, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dr. David “Dave” Bowman serves as the protagonist of 2001: A Space Odyssey, a series of science fiction novels by the English science-fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke (16 December 1917 – 19 March 2008), and also of the 1968 epic science fiction film with the same name, produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick.
  • Nesmith J: Jason Nesmith, Galaxy Quest. Jason Nesmith, a fictional character in the 1999 American science fiction comedy film Galaxy Quest.
  • Shephard C: Commander Shephard, Mass Effect. Commander Shepard is the player character in the Mass Effect video game series.
  • Buck E: Edward Buck, Halo universe. A supersoldier in the Halo universe, a sprawling fictional universe.
  • Garrity K: One of Naren Shankar’s karate teachers. Naren Shankar is the co-showrunner of the Amazon Prime series The Expanse.
  • Ochiai H: One of Naren Shankar’s karate teachers.
  • Ripley E: Ellen Ripley, Alien franchise. Ellen Louise Ripley is the main protagonist of the Alien film series, played by American actress Sigourney Weaver.
  • Vasquez J: Jenette Vasquez, Aliens. One of the soldiers in the 1986 science fiction action film Aliens written and directed by James Cameron (not to be confused with the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien directed by Ridley Scott).
  • Hicks D: Dwayne Hicks, Aliens. A corporal in the 1986 science fiction action film Aliens.
  • Hudson W: William Hudson, Aliens. One of the soldiers in the 1986 science fiction action film Aliens.
  • Cooper J: either Joseph “Coop” Cooper, Interstellar, or Jack Cooper, Titanfall 2. In the 2014 epic science-fiction film Interstellar, Joseph “Coop” Cooper is the main protagonist, a trained NASA pilot with an engineering background, and the pilot of the Interstellar Expedition. Jack Cooper is the Pilot protagonist and the playable character of Titanfall 2 first-person shooter video game.
  • Deckard R: Rick Deckard, Blade Runner. Rick Deckard is a fictional character, the protagonist of the American science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick’s (December 16, 1928 – March 2, 1982) 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? American actor Harrison Ford portrayed the character in the 1982 film adaptation, Blade Runner, and reprised his role in the 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049.
  • Anderton J: John Anderton, Minority Report. In the 2002 movie, Anderton is the former Chief of the Department of PreCrime until it was shut down in 2054, portrayed by Tom Cruise. In the 1956 science fiction novella by Philip K. Dick, the year is unknown.
  • O’Neil J: Jack O’Neil, Stargate. Jonathan J. “Jack” O’Neill is a fictional character in the military science fiction franchise Stargate (1994-2018), primarily as one of the main characters of the television series Stargate SG-1.
  • Levine R: Again, one of Naren Shankar’s karate teachers.
  • Rico J: John/Johnny Rico, Starship Troopers. Starship Troopers is a military science-fiction novel by the American science-fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein (July 7, 1907 – May 8, 1988). The first-person narrative follows Juan “Johnny” Rico through his military service in the Mobile Infantry.
  • Starr L: Lucky Starr, Asimov or Lone Starr, Spaceballs. Lucky Starr is the hero of a series of science fiction books by the American writer Isaac Asimov (1920 – April 6, 1992), using the pen name “Paul French” and intended for children. Lone Starr is a heroic mercenary in the 1987 American space opera parody film Spaceballs.
  • Thrace K: Kara Thrace (Starbuck), Battlestar Galactica. Played by Katee Sackhoff, Kara Thrace (call sign “Starbuck”) is a fictional character in the reimagined 2004 Battlestar Galactica series.
  • Banks L: Louise Banks, Arrival. Dr. Louise Banks is the main protagonist of the 2016 American science fiction drama film Arrival, a linguist enlisted by the United States Army to discover how to communicate with the aliens who have arrived on Earth.
  • Connor S: Sarah Connor, Terminator. One of the protagonists of The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate, as well as the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
  • Flynn K: Kevin Flynn, TRON. Kevin Flynn is a computer programmer and video game developer in the 1982 American science fiction action-adventure film TRON written and directed by Steven Lisberger.
  • Stone R: Ryan Stone, Gravity. The main protagonist of the 2013 film Gravity. She was portrayed by Sandra Bullock.
  • Neary R: Roy Neary, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Main protagonist of the 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, written and directed by Steven Spielberg. He is an everyday blue-collar worker in Indiana.
  • Riker W: William Riker, Star Trek TNG. William Thomas “Will” Riker is a fictional character in the Star Trek universe appearing primarily as a main character in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
