You created a robot. Then it denied that you created it. Would you torture it forever?

Let’s say you’re a highly skilled robot engineer who has just created a robot capable of thinking, feeling emotions, and experiencing pain. However, there’s a small problem: it stubbornly denies that you created it. Would you torture it just for that reason? Forever?

Let’s say you started burning the robot. Remember, you exactly know that it can experience pain. Now it’s screaming with pain. Could you continue that torture?

I couldn’t. I wouldn’t even start torturing it in the first place, or wouldn’t harm it in any possible way. I’d just accept the situation. And I think most people would do so.

Because I am not a horrible human being, I cannot intentionally cause harm to a creature that has feelings and can experience pain.

So, here’s my question: How can a “loving, merciful” god torture people who deny that he created them? In hell? Forever?
